Main characteristics and physicochemical properties
Solkane® 141b is a colourless liquid, with a slight ethereal odour, characterized by a high degree of chemical and thermal stability. Solkane® 141b is also quite stable when used in combination with ultrasonics which can improve its cleaning efficiency if necessary.
Most of the physico-chemical properties usually considered to characterize a solvent indeed show that Solkane® 141b can be a suitable substitute for CFC-113.
For example, its low surface tension allows a good wetting of the surface and excellent creeping facilities. Solkane® 141b is, therefore, well suited for the treatment of complicated parts.

The Kauri-Butanol index of Solkane® 141b, although being greater than that of CFC-113, is low enough to justify classifying this product among the mild and selective solvents, which can be used in many fields like electronics, optics, precision cleaning, treatment of assemblies made of various plastics...
