   NOCOLOK® Flux - Datasheet

Production

NOCOLOK Flux is produced in the liquid phase using Al(OH)3, HF and KOH as raw materials.

Stringent process tolerances and a variety of quality control procedures (Alcan Standards) produces a flux of the highest quality and consistency.

The result is a fine white powder consisting of a mixture of the potassium fluoroaluminate salts.

Specification

K 28-31 %
Al 16 – 18 %
F 49 – 53 %
Fe max. 0,03 %
Ca max. 0,1 %
LOH max. 2,5 %

Physical Properties

Appearance white powder
Density (20 °C) g/cm3 2,8
Bulk density g/l 350-550
Melting point °C 565 – 572
Solubility in water (20 °C): g/l 4,5

Particle Size Distribution

The chosen particle size represents the optimum compromise between powder handling up to suspension preparation and the melting characteristics during the brazing process. Agitation of the aqueous suspension avoids settling.

The eutectic composition of NOCOLOK Flux has a defined melting point range of
565° C to 572° C, just below the melting temperature of 577° C of the Al-Si brazing alloys.
