Inorganic Fluorides Price Increase Effective September 1st 2008
Effective September 1st 2008 Solvay Fluor will increase prices for its Inorganic Fluorides product range. Price increases will be up to 50% and more.
This increase is absolutely necessary to compensate for the unprecedented increase in the cost of raw materials used in the manufacture of the products.
One of the major raw materials for this line of products is hydrofluoric acid which is manufactured from sulfuric acid and fluorspar. The price for sulfuric acid has quadrupled since Dec 2007 - and it is expected to increase further. Fluorspar prices have increased significantly due to general tightness of supply. Prices for all other raw materials as well as energy and transport have also risen significantly over the last months and are expected to continue to climb. Please be assured that Solvay does everything possible to mitigate and hold our position against these increases.
We will be in contact with our customers in order to provide further information or answer any questions in this respect.
