Solvay Fluor will continue to offer the full range of refrigerants in its home markets
Solvay Fluor will remain a dependable supplier of a complete range of refrigerants. This is fully in line with Solvay´s previous communication, published in October 2007, stating that the Company is taking steps to further focus its Fluor Chemicals business on high value-added specialty products, while scaling down its activities in commodities. The latter refers to the situation in markets with low-cost competition and unfavourable currency exchange rates. However, in its home markets, Solvay Fluor intends to further strengthen its position by continuing to offer the proven quality SOLKANE® refrigerants and, additionally, a line of newly introduced specialty products for use in a variety of refrigeration applications such as ORC systems, high temperature heat exchangers and cooling of electronic components (e.g. computer drives in lap tops). .The Company will present its products, applications, services and its new structure at trade shows such as the MCE Expocomfort in Milan in March and the Chillventa in Nuremberg in October.
Solvay Fluor has introduced a new supply chain organisation in order to optimise the handling of information requests and orders. Solvay Fluor´s Technology Team primarily focuses on product development for specialised applications, design and construction of filling stations and storage tanks, and recycling processes. (Solvay Fluor operates a recycling system that generates valuable raw materials from CFC’s, HCFC’s, and HFC’s – the only system of its kind in Europe.).
Solvay Fluor’s announced strengthening of its specialty product sector will build upon the leading position the Company has already achieved in this field. For example, Solvay Fluor is one of the global leaders for fluorides used in aluminium brazing and for foaming agents for polyurethane insulation materials. Both specialty products are used - among others - in air conditioning, appliance and reefer industries.
