Solvay will reliably meet the rapidly increasing demand
Sifren®46 capacity will be doubled
Hannover, 20th April 2006. Solvay will more than double its capacity for the production of fluorine specialty Sifren® 46. The construction work at the Italian Solvay Solexis site Spinetta Marengo is intended to begin this month and to be completed in the 4th quarter of this year. Aim of this expansion is to continue reliably meeting the rapidly growing demand as forecasted, above all, for the semiconductor industry.
Solvay Fluor is globally marketing the fluorine compound hexafluorobutadiene (C4F6) under the trade name Sifren®. The gas liquefied under pressure is state of the art for chip etching. Sifren® makes it possible to carry out extremely sharp cuts with a very small width on silicon wafers. Crucial areas of increased demand, which had already jumped up in 2005, are Asia and also the USA.
