Merck Electronic Chemicals GmbH of Germany,a subsidiary company of Merck Electronic Chemicals Holding GmbH, and Solvay Fluor und Derivate GmbH & Co. KG of Germany recently signed the following agreement: Solvay Fluor und Derivate will supply Hydrofluoric Acid 50% VLSI, which will be used as starting material for concentrated and diluted HF and HF-based mixtures (BOE, Sioetch®, Spinetch®, other mixtures and Ammoniumfluoride 40%). This cooperation will strengthen the position of Merck Electronic Chemicals GmbH as ultra-pure electronic chemical supplier in the European semiconductor market.
Solvay Fluor is a wholly owned subsidiary of Solvay S.A., with facilities in Europe and affiliates in NAFTA and Namibia (raw materials). Major acquisitions including Hoechst`s refrigeration business in 1996, Norfluor (Mexico) and Chemtech (USA) in 2000, as well as the effects of the Ausimont acquisition in 2002, were key steps in the development of the Solvay Group`s fluorinated specialities.

It achieved worldwide sales of EUR 180 million in 2003.
