The inorganic fluoride, SF6, is used for both magnesium and aluminum casting. With magnesium, SF6’s unusual properties serves a protective role during the casting process. With aluminum, SF6 purifies the aluminum melt before casting, which significantly decreases the unwanted porosity of the melt.    Products Sulphur Hexafluoride Sulphur Hexafluoride (SF6) is a non-toxic, inert, insulating and cooling gas of high dielectric strength and thermal stability.
