Iodine pentafluoride is especially important in organic chemistry for its role in the production of alkyl iodides. Eventually, these iodides are used in the synthesis of alkylated organic compounds. All of our other organic intermediates are also used in organic synthesis as well for building blocks, catalysts, solvents, and protective groups.

Iodine pentafluoride (IF5 ) |
Iodine pentafluoride is a colourless liquid with a pungent odour.
The highly reactive IF5 (melting point 9.4 °C) is distillable at
100.5 °C without any decomposition. Decomposition commences
at temperatures above 400 °C. In contact with water, iodinepentafluoride hydrolyses spontaneously.
