Non-corrodible and acid resistant chromium- and chromium-nickel steel is cleaned predominantly in pickling baths containing hydrofluoric acid. Pickling pastes often consist of ammonium- or sodium bifluoride as HF-containing components.
Residues of foundry sands have to be removed from cast pieces which requires a quick and thorough treatment. Most effective here is aqueous hydrofluoric acid in various concentrations.
