Solkaflam ®227 UL recognized component - Product Description

Solkaflam® 227 fire extinguishing agents - Solvay Fluor

Once, there was Halon®...

but with the Montreal Protocol conference from 1993, manufacturing of substances with Ozon Depleting Potential (ODP), including Halon 1301 (CBrF3), Halon 1211 (CClF2Br) and Halon 2201 (CHF2Br), which were used as fire extinguishing agents, was banned. As a result EC Regulation 2037/2000 banned the use of halons in hand-held fire extinguishers and total flooding systems from December 31st 2003.

Since the beginning of 2004 the use of halons is only permitted for critical applications with an exeption license and the refilling of halon containing systems is prohibited.

Accordingly, new systems based on nitrogen, argon and carbon dioxide were launched as “standard fire extinguishers„ and for special applications the new hydrofluorocarbons were launched.

...and now there’s Solkaflam®!

The new generation hydrofluorocarbons HFC 125 (pentafluorethane) and HFC 227ea, also known as HFC 227, (heptafluoropropane) are now used providing universal handling possiblities.

Similarly, Solkaflam 125 fire extinguishing agents and Solkaflam 227 fire extinguishing agents are important halon substitutes, primarily in sectors where space and weight are constrained, or speed of suppression is vital.
